Modified natural zeolite with crown ethers such as 12crown4, 15crown5, 6crown18 and benzo15crown5 have been characterized using Fourier transform infra-red, scanning electron microscope and Brunauer?Emmett?Teller instruments. Concentration of 0.01 mg/L of complexing agent and modification time of 240 h were obtained as optimum parameters. Effective parameters such as pH, adsorbent dose, contact time, type and concentration of crown ethers, ion strength, and initial concentration of lithium ion and temperature of complex formation were also investigated and optimized in this adsorption process. Under the optimized experimental conditions pH equal to 7, one gram of adsorbent in 2 mL solution of 0.01 mg/L and temperature of 40C, the most lithium adsorption (87%) was acquired. The effect of interference ions on the adsorption process was also considered. The results showed that Freundlich model is one of the best descriptive models for this process. The adsorption kinetics of lithium on modified zeolite follows the pseudo second-order model. Thermodynamic parameters were calculated and shown that adsorption process is an endothermic and spontaneous process. Statistical analysis of experimental results was done by fuzzy logic tool of MATLAB software and three-dimensional diagrams of different parameters effect on the adsorption percentage were also presented.

A convenient method for one-step coupling of benzoannelated crown ethers with 1,2,4-triazinones based on the reaction of nucleophilic addition to unsubstituted carbon atom of the triazine ring has been worked out. It has been shown that the reaction of 3-substituted 1,2,4-triazin-5(2H)-ones (1) with benzocrown ethers (benzo-12-crown-4, benzo-15-crown-5, benzo-18-crown-6) in the presence of acetic or trifluoroacetic anhydride is accompanied by acylation of triazine ring and results in formation of 3-(1-acyl-5-oxo-1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-1,2,4-triazin-6-yl)benzocrown ethers (7-12). The latters were converted to 3-(5-oxo-2,5-dihydro-1,2,4-triazin-6-yl)benzocrown ethers (18-20) using two alternative routes: the elimination of acetic or trifluoroacetaldehyde or the deacylation followed by the oxidation of the 1,4,5,6-tetrahydro derivatives (13-15).

The interaction of new molecular clips containing diphenylglycoluril and benzocrown ethers moieties with alkali metals ions was studied. Stability constants were determined by spectrophotometric titrations with chloride salts in methanol. Complex stability and cation binding selectivity were shown to be dependent on the size of the crown ether moiety. The “sandwich-type” 1:1 (clip to cation) complexes and the “classical” 1:2 complexes were found. Their ratio varies depending on the molecular clips nature and on the cation type. It was found an unexpected selectivity of the molecular clip with benzo-15-crown-5 moieties toward K+ and Rb+ cations. The molecular structure of the clip complex with benzo-15-crown-5 fragments and sodium picrate was determined by X-ray crystallography. The crystal structure and solution-state structure were proven to be similar.

Herein, we report the synthesis and molecular structure of the mono- and dianionic aromatic molecules [(B15C5-kappa5O)2K+](LDOPT-) (1) and [(B15C5-kappa5O)2K+]2(LDOPT2-)THFsolv (2) derived from the parent aromatic polyhydrocarbon 5,6:11,12-di-o-phenylenetetracene (DOPT, LDOPT) by a controlled stepwise one and two electron chemical reduction. The effect of single and double electron charge transfer to a polycondensed aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) without any disturbing influence of an associated metal cation has been demonstrated. This was achieved by fully sandwiching the cationic K+ counterions between two benzo-15-crown-5-ether (B15C5) ligands resulting in a fully encapsulating (kappa10O) geometry which ensures a complete separation of the K+ counterions and the bare anionic PAH species [LDOPT-] and [LDOPT2-]. The structural changes accompanied by the stepwise reduction from LDOPT to [LDOPT-] to [LDOPT2-] are discussed and compared to earlier predictions based on density functional theory (DFT) as well as the results of previous studies of alkaline metal cationic PAH anion interactions of DOPT in which only a partial metal cation encapsulation has been achieved so far.

A series of anionic chromium(III) thiocyanato complexes with metal crown ether cations have been prepared and characterized. These complexes have the form [Crown-M]2+[Cr(NCS)5(H2O)] 2- and [Crown-M]3+[Cr(NCS)6]3-, where M=Na+, K+, or NH4+ and crown represents the crown ether. The crown ethers are 15-crown-5, B-15-crown-5, 18-crown-6, DB-18-crown-6, and DB-24-crown-8, where B- and DB- stand for benzo- and dibenzo-, respectively. The complexes are stable for at least 20 h in the dark in dimethylformamide(DMF) or in acetonitrile, and they release thiocyanate slowly, k=(0.71-2.67)×10-9 mol/(L s) in acetonitrile in the dark. Photoanation of thiocyanate was observed for the complexes in DMF and in acetonitrile. The quantum yields of thiocyanate release in DMF and in acetonitrile are reported. The quantum yields were in the range 0.05 to 0.52 mol einstein-1 and were solvent and wavelength dependent. In general, larger quantum yields were observed in DMF than in acetonitrile. The photoreaction mechanism is discussed.

Synthetic Route of 14098-44-3. Let’s face it, organic chemistry can seem difficult to learn. Especially from a beginner’s point of view. Like 14098-44-3, Name is Benzo-15-crown-5. In a document type is Article, introducing its new discovery.

The determination of stability constants and thermodynamic values for the reaction of crown ethers with alkali-, alkaline-earth ions, and the silver ion was achieved by calorimetric titration in methanol.Through modification of the experimental conditions it is possible to measure separately the formation of 1:1- and 2:1-complexes (ratio of ligand to cation). With the exception of Ag+ and Ca2+ all ions examined form both kinds of complexes with the various 15 C 5 ligands. The complex stabilities are influenced by enthalpic and entropic contributions. 18 C 6 and DC 18 C 6, having a bigger diameter than 15 C 5, show a definite increase of the stability of 1:1-complexes.Only the Cs+ ion with the largest radius forms 2:1-complexes.A good agreement is found with values determined potentiometrically for the 1:1- and 2:1-complex formation of Na+.
